If you are a system administrator in charge of installing and maintaining Mahara instances on a RedHat based system you might want to put your Mahara instances in RPM packages to have a clean upgrade procedure. On https://github.com/liip/mahararpmpkg you will find a set of scripts that will help you to do just that. Note that you should be somewhat familiar with GIT version control (http://git-scm.com/).
