If you are a system administrator in charge of installing and maintaining Mahara instances on a RedHat based system you might want to put your Mahara instances in RPM packages to have a clean upgrade procedure. On https://github.com/liip/mahararpmpkg you will find a set of scripts that will help you to do just that.
Note that you should be somewhat familiar with GIT version control. You will find information on how to use the scripts in the accompanying README file.
