If you are a system administrator in charge of installing and maintaining Mahara instances on a RedHat based system you might want to put your Mahara instances in RPM packages to have a clean upgrade procedure. On https://github.com/liip/mahararpmpkg you will find a set of scripts that will help you to do just that.
Note that you should be somewhat familiar with [1] version control. You will find information on how to use the scripts in the accompanying README file.
